Songs of the Week

This blogpost is short due to the overwhelming amount of work that needs to be completed tonight, but I figured I would share my top five songs for this week. It got me through the crazy college stress of this week, so they're definitely good. Please check them out! They're in no particular order, but these are definitely my favorites right now.

1. Resolution by Matt Corby
Oh man, so much to say about this song. Matt Corby truly puts his heart and soul into this song and it's just simply beautiful. The artwork, might I add, is right up my alley. This song, unlike many of my other songs, fits with the chilly weather here in Texas. Very well written and produced, I feel. Also, if you haven't heard anything of Matt Corby, I suggest you listen to Big Eyes as well.

2. Love On The Rocks - Live at The Fillmore Version by Sara Bareilles
Sara Bareilles, if you haven't heard, is one of my musical inspirations. Her jazz tones in many of her songs is close to what i'm trying to put into my songs. You can definitely see a little bit of jazz in this song, but what I love most about this track is the performance feel of it all. For a minute, you will forget that she is performing this live and right when she says "love on theeee rockkkkssss," the screams will remind you. Overall, very good. So in love with this song.

3. Uptown Funk by Mark Ronson ft. Bruno Mars
Okay, y'all know my love for Bruno. The entire hooligan fan base was RAVING about the release of the song. If you need a song to let out all of your embarrassing dance moves, THIS will be the one lol. Totally a 10 on the funky scale. I don't know of anyone who dislikes this song. I see a Grammy in his future ;)

4. Kawaiokalena by Keali'i Reichel
One for all my loves from Hawaii. Keali'i Reichel just recently put out his new album, which is also named Kawaiokalena, and while listening to it, this song jumped out! This track also includes backup vocals from Deandre Brackensick, a former American Idol contestant (who may I note, has an AMAZING falsetto range). This song is very similar to many Keali'i Reichel classics. He never disappoints!

5. Skin by Rihanna
Throwback! One of those hidden gems of Rihanna's music. A great dancing song. Believe me, there were may times this week that I wanted to just stop and dance on my way to class. The subtle bass and beats behind the vocals are addicting. Just makes me wanna put on my crumping pants and just jam out. Give it a listen!

From this, I am sure you can see at least a piece of my large range of music styles. To everyone in Texas, stay warm! Have an amazing rest of the week. Love ya!
